Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) announced Cross Island Line, the eighth MRT line of the republic, in year 2013. After numerous feasibility and environmental study, we have the details for first phase of the 3-phased project in January 2019.
12 Stations Spanning 29KM
Phase 1 of Cross Island Line (CRL) consist of 12 stations where four of them are interchange linking to existing network. The 29 kilometre underground stretch from Aviation Park in Changi and terminating at Bright Hill in Sin Ming.
Reduce Travel Time Drastically
The latest addition of the transport network is set to reduct travelling time by as much as 70 minutes. The convenience will benefit residents in the vicinity. As a result it stir up interests in property acquisition including Treasure at Tampines. The residents will be able to transfer to CRL network from the existing 5 stations that are already serving the iconic condominium.
When all the 3 phases are ready, it will connect Changi to Jurong and touching important economical node including Punggol Digital District, Jurong Lake District and more.
Further Environmental Study Ongoing
Currently, government is studying underground alignments at Central Catchment Nature Reserve (CCNR) before making decision on which is best serving the public. The two options are direct alignment where a 2km tunnel run directly under CCNR; or Skirting alignment by running the tunnel around CCNR. Till date, no decision has been made on the options.
